You had good intentions. You had ambitions. You were going to make 2020 your year, right? Then life was like, “Whoa, hold up…sit down.”
Let’s recap quick.
- What we thought was going to be the start of World War 3
- Coronavirus
- Kids home from school
- Stores, restaurants, businesses closed
- U.K. removes itself from the European Union
- Killer wasps
- Government acknowledging UFOs
- Tiger King on Netflix
- And so much more
It seems as though people just can’t catch a break. What appears to be the biggest struggle is being stuck home with the ones you love most. For the most part, I’m enjoying it. Not everything is smooth sailing, however.

If you’re a parent I’m sure you feel as though you’re losing your marbles trying to feed kids.
Your day probably goes something like
- Breakfast
- After breakfast snack
- Before lunch snack
- Lunch (left untouched)
- 5 more snacks
- Supper (eaten like a bird)
- 5 more snacks before bed
- Bedtime snack
- Another bedtime snack
- The official “bedtime” snack
I know I’m not alone in the constant battle of keeping the kitchen fully stocked with snacks and stuff. I’ve even tried buying in bulk. That way we would have enough granola bars and whatever to last us longer. I thought wrong. That giant box of 60 bars? Gone in what seemed like 5 minutes.
Do these tiny people just assume I have endless money to continue to replenish these snacks they demand? Maybe they think I just grab them from some sort of free snack tree…
Honestly, I think they’re just bored. I tried explaining this to my 4 year old and got a stern lecture from her about how that was definitely NOT the case. Either way, I don’t anticipate recovering from all these grocery bills anytime in the near future.
For now, I’m just drowning the concerns in horrible Netflix shows, pistachios, and impulse spring cleaning. How are you managing these trying times? Have you tackled any household chores? Maybe you’ve started a new hobby or found the time to make you a better YOU? Whatever it is you’re doing I hope you find the little things and enjoy them.
May your kitchen stay stocked and your sanity remain sane.
